MESA MERCADO Celebrates First Anniversary, Sept. 9

Ernesto Delgado’s Second Restaurant Thriving in Carmichael’s Milagro Center

CARMICHAEL, Calif., Sept. 1—MESA MERCADO, a contemporary Mexican cuisine concept from Sacramento restaurateur Ernesto Delgado, today announced plans to celebrate its first year of operation.

Delgado and his staff will host a special celebraciôn on Saturday, September 9 from 11.30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The free event will feature food and beverage tastings and cultural performances.

One of the first tenants to open in Carmichael’s bustling Milagro Centre (6241 Fair Oaks Boulevard), MESA MERCADO integrates a restaurant, cocktail bar, taco bar and store that are inspired by the open-air mercados of Mexico City and Oaxaca, as well as Sacramento’s status as America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital.

Delgado, who is also the proprietor of the popular Tequila Museo Mayahuel (1200 K Street) and the recently opened La Cosecha (Cesar Chavez Plaza, 917 9th Street) in downtown Sacramento is very grateful for the support the Carmichael community has given MESA MERCADO.

“I can’t say enough about how wonderful Carmichael has been,” said Delgado. “Even before we opened, from the moment word started getting around the community about what was going on here—both at MESA MERCADO and the Milagro Centre—there was immediate interest and support.”

That support “amazed” Delgado when he quietly opened the restaurant for the first time. “We did a ‘soft opening’ without any official announcements and had no idea what to expect,” said Delgado. “But almost as soon as we put out a sign to say we were open, we were seating guests!”

Along with supporting his business, he is also appreciative of the Carmichael community’s embrace of his passion for creating dining experiences that prioritize authenticity and Mexico’s diverse culinary culture.

“Passion has been the primary motivator for me to create and operate these restaurants,” said Delgado. “Although I got into restaurants because I love food, I’ve also fallen in love with what it means to be a restaurant owner—which not only creates jobs, but it also creates environments for others that feel the way I do about food.”
